Honors

Geir Bjørklund has received professional recognition for his contributions to publishing and communication in the health sciences.

In 2003, the Albert Lindsay von Julin Foundation in Helsinki awarded him a €10,000 grant in acknowledgment of his efforts to promote biological medicine in the Nordic region.

In 2023, Bjørklund was appointed Honorary Professor at Semey Medical University in Kazakhstan and Samarkand State Medical University in Uzbekistan. These honorary titles were conferred in recognition of his contributions to the medical and health science fields.

Semey Medical University is one of Kazakhstan’s leading medical institutions. Known for its university hospital and regional branches in Pavlodar and Ust-Kamenogorsk, the university plays a central role in medical education and research throughout the region.

Samarkand State Medical University is the oldest medical institution in Central Asia and among the most prestigious in Uzbekistan. Located in the historic city of Samarkand, an important hub along the Silk Road, the university has a long-standing tradition of knowledge exchange.

That same year, he received an invitation to serve as a visiting professor at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh, the world’s largest women’s university. Although the visit was postponed, the invitation reflects his international recognition in medical science.

These honors reflect Bjørklund’s professional dedication and his ongoing contributions to global collaboration in the health sciences.
